Western Lake Superior Sanitary District
Established in 1971 to improve and protect the waters of the St. Louis River, Western Lake Superior Sanitary District (WLSSD) treats all municipal and industrial sewage in the Duluth-Cloquet area. It operates multiple wastewater treatment and solid waste facilities.
WLSSD is committed to preventing pollution and protecting the environment, including the region’s most precious resource – Lake Superior.
